This is a High-Resolution Copy of Hogarth's Original Hand Illustration from The Candid Guide to Neo-Vedic Astrology. This pencil, ink, and watercolour illustration depicts the Nodes of the Moon, Rahu & Ketu (the North & South nodes of the Moon. They are also known as the 'dragon's head' (for Rahu) and the 'dragon's body' for Ketu.
Rahu & Ketu are always exactly opposite each other in space but only become 'visible' as the shadows that cause the eclipses of the Sun and the Moon. The Nodes are strongly associated with a person's fate and destiny (Rahu can indicate the future, Ketu can reveal the past). The sign and house placement of these Nodes can indicate much of what a person's life will be about in this particular incarnation.
The Nodes of the Moon spend approximately 18 months in one sign and take approximately 18.5 years to go through all 12 signs of the Zodiac before returning to their original placements in a chart.
